  Monday 23rd of July 2018 and I woke up in the middle of the night, around 2 o'clock. Well, I had felt a sleep in the afternoon so I had have enough of sleep. I will be at the restaurant when they open for breakfast and then I will drive to Helsingborg to pick up my nephews and we will go look for the White Storks and more adventures. Gyllene Uttern, well, the breakfast was kind of OK but I will never come back. I left Gyllene Uttern and I was soon on the highway #E4 on my way towards Skåne. I was hauling arse going south and I was soon to pick up my nephews and we were off to Marina Plaza hotel to leave my bags before we continued south to the White Storks. I had have plenty time during the night to listen to the “nature morning” again. There is only one program that you can listen to in the Swedish Radio now a days. The “Nature Morning” on Saturday mornings. Otherwise it is just brain washing and propaganda from early morning to late evening. Anyway, I use to listen to the “Nature Morning” and last Saturday it was about White stork in Skåne and I decided to go have a look.  Now I listened again to get the name of the place to go see the White Storks, a place close to Sjöbo. So we got out on highway #E6 towards Malmö when we left Helsingborg and Marina Plaza Hotel. Taking of road #E6 in Lund and we continued on road #102 and #11 towards Sjöbo. We spotted a few birds of prey along the road, but no space to stop to have a look or to take pictures. DARN! Beautiful birds! It was not so easy to find Klingavälsåns Dalgångs Naturreservat, Klingavälsåns Dalgångs Nature Reserve. We had to ask around before we could find the place. The White Stork is extinct in Sweden, but they have a breeding program. At Storkhägn Hemmestorps Mölla they breed the storks and they release them last Saturday in July every year. Visit their web page: www.storkprojektet.se And after 3 years the birds that have survived come back to breed on their own. They are released here and then they fly to Africa. And when they are mature, takes 3 years they come back from Africa to have their own babies. And now they have some stork that have come back and we can see the juveniles in the nests.
The juvenile have more orange bills and they are still feed by the parents even though it is soon time for them to fly to Africa.   White Stork / Vit Stork

 We watched the storks, but my nephews started to get hungry and we left Storkhägn Hemmestorps Mölla and we drove to Sjöbo to look for Sjöbo Gästgifvaregård to have our lunch.  Some traditional food from Skåne will do my nephews good. They only like to eat hamburgers.
And when the waiters come with the “child menu” I always give them back telling them that we order from the “Grown up” menu. Well, we're always unlucky when we're out eating, the restaurants are always out of fizz drinks and French fries. So we have to eat old traditional food from Skåne.   Rook / Råka
We passed a few rooks in the fields and we stopped to get a few pictures before we continued to Sjöbo to have our lunch. Sjöbo is a few kilometres away and it didn't take long to reach the town. But it was a bit of a bother to find Sjöbo Gästgifvaregård and we had to ask around. But we found the place and we were soon sitting at a table. The Waitress brought two menus for children, but they were soon sent out. We asked for shrimp sandwiches as starters and “Skånsk äggakaga” As main course. The food was really excellent and we were full by the time we left. So full so there was no room for dessert.  Sjöbo Gästgifvaregård

We kept an (half) eye out for a place to buy soft ice cream on the way back to Storkhägn Hemmestorps Mölla to look at the White Storks. We managed to get all the way to Storkhägn Hemmestorps Mölla without having to stop to buy soft ice cream. Good for my diet. But we were not lucky with the birds of prey, they are looking for food along the roads but this is not as when I was in the north of Sweden with empty roads and I could stop pretty much where ever I wanted. So this was a wee bit disappointing. Never the mind, I spotted a falcon back at Storkhägn Hemmestorps Mölla. We spotted a bird and I'm pretty sure it is a Red Kite, but I will send the picture to BirdForum to see what they say. And the bird picture was not good enough for the bird to make it to my list of observed birds.  I'm pretty sure this is a Red Kite

We have a look around at Storkhägn Hemmestorps Mölla before we drove back north towards Helsingborg. I dropped my nephews at home before I drove to Hotel Marina Plaza. I will be off at 7 o'clock tomorrow morning to go to look for birds on Kullaberg, so click HERE to find out if I find any birds on Kullaberg.
