Thursday 18th of March 2021 and I was out of bed at 4 to put my alarm to snooze and at 04:20 I was out in the kitchen to make tea. Looking out the window at dawn and it was gloom and grey for long as I could see. Same at 9 o'clock and I decided to go to the Supermarket. I ended up at the Cafe outside my apartment and I ordered two sandwiches and two cups of tea.
Excellent breakfast
I go back to my room and I look out the window, weather looks good. I take my birding equipment and I leave for bird watching at eBird hotspot: Paphos Lighthouse Area. I cross the road and it starts to rain. DUCK! I went in to the Supermarket to buy grocery and when I come back out it is blue sky and sunshine.
Now I have no choice but to go home. The sky is covered in clouds, but it looked good at 2 o'clock in the afternoon and I left for eBird hotspot: Paphos Lighthouse Area. I reach the entrance and I paid the entrance fee 4£ and 50¢ and I am inside.
It is cold and very windy and it looks like it will start to rain any second.
Entrance to Paphos Lighthouse Area
Not so many birds this time. It was quite quiet in the bushes so maybe the flirting time is over and now the birds are busy building nests and making eggs. I walked up towards the lighthouse, not all the way up as I stopped in the bushes. I put my Bluetooth speaker in the bushes and I played different bird songs.
It was cold but I really enjoyed the area and when I left I spotted 6 Hoopoes sitting together near the exit. It was really dark as dark clouds was almost covering the sky. I spotted 6 reddish things on the field, it was birds and then I saw that it was Hoopoes

I left the area and I stopped my eBird app as I did not expect to see anything walking back along the water front. Of course, House Sparrows, Pigeons and crows.
But I spotted a bird on the seaweeds and rocks that was above water level because of the low water on the back side of the Harbour Kiosk.
I approach the kiosk when I see the duck going in to the water and I start run, well, walk quickly towards the duck as I am scared to miss the duck.

I was lucky, I managed to reach the duck to get a few pictures. I took a video as well and the Ruddy Shelduck came back in and climbed up on the rocks again. So I was lucky to come close to the Ruddy Shelduck. So I was very happy when I left to walk back to the apartment.
I spent the evening in my room and off to bed early with my alarm set to go off at 4 o'clock. My Guide will be here at 6 thirty and we will start the day by looking for the Ruddy Shelduck as my Guide want to see the bird as well. So click HERE to see if we have any luck.
OK, it has come to my knowledge that we have senior citizens visiting my web page. How hard can it be? So it's not very easy for them to see the blue coloured links to the next page.
