Sunday 21st of March 2021 and I brought down my luggage to the road and my Guide came a few minutes later. We started to drive towards Larnaca. First stop was to look for the Griffon Vultures. The vulture spot is before we reach Limassol.
So when we are ready with the vultures we will go to the Lady's Mile as my Guide had got reports about one Woodchat Shrike around the Lady's Mile in Limassol
We drive along the coast from Paphos and are getting up on the highway to drive to South. Before getting up on the highway we stop so my Guide can roll a cigarette. He is busy rolling his coffin nail when we discover a Goldenfinch in the bush next to the road.

Well, we spent some time on the cliff and I was scared all the time again. Never know when the cliff side will fall down in to the see hundred meters below. So I was happy to leave but disappointed that we had not seen any Griffon Vultures.
They were here 3 years ago when I was here. My Guide had not seen them for a very long time and he was also disappointed as we really wanted to see the vultures.
My Guide when we walk back to the car
We leave and we are off to look for the Woodchat Shrike around the Lady's Mile in Limassol. So we drove there to look for the bird. We actually spotted the bird and it was on top of a buch hunting insects. Then the bird started to hunt from a wire.
Sitting on the wire throwing itself after insects and then back to the wire to look for something new to eat. Yet again, I was a little disappointed as I had not got any good pictures.

We left the Lady's Mile and before we were out of the roundabout I had called Amara Hotel, a 5 star hotel in Limassol. I was really wanting to have an English Breakfast and when I mentioned it my Guide wanted bacon and egg as well. He had not had it for many years and he really got hungry when I mentioned Bacon & Egg.
So we drove straight from the Lady's Mile to Amara Hotel. The hotel don't look like much but as soon as we came inside we could see that it was a good hotel. So we could imagine the breakfast and we were delirious by hunger and anticipation. And we were not disappointed, the best breakfast in a very long time.

We were very happy when we left the hotel, the breakfast had been fantastic. Next stop, the ponds around Larnaca and we start at the eBird hotspot: Meneou Pools. We dive out on the dry pnd bottom and we are soon spotting one Cream-coloured Courser.
We give up on the Courser and a little longer down the dirt track we spot a couple of Spectacled Warblers and we spend time trying to get pictures.
We spotted the Cyprus wheatear so now I have all three of the birds with Cyprus in the name:
• Cyprus Wheatear
• Cyprus Warbler
• Cyprus Scops Owl

I turn off my eBird app and I restart the app with the eBird hotspot: Larnaca Sewage Works. This is the best day regarding the weather since I came to Cyprus so I enjoyed to sit in the hide to look for birds. There was a lot of birds in the sewage works.
We spotted one Lesser Black-backed Gull (Baltic) and it was really sticking out with the black back comparing to the Yellow-legged Gull.
There was also plenty Cormorants but no fighting today but the gulls were fighting when one of them had caught a fish.

We were going to go to the salt pans at the Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque but I changed my mind and we went to the airport instead. I would not be able to enjoy the Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque with limited time. So better off going to the airport. Time to leave Cyprus and I had have a great time with CYPRUS BIRD WATCHING TOURS - BIRD IS THE WORD.
I had seen a lot of birds I had never seen before during the trip. So I was happy even though I had not managed to get many pictures. Next stop Malta, via Frankfurt where I will spend a night at the airport hotel.

eBird Trip Report
Since April 2023 eBird offer a new feature, to create Trip Reports. At least this is when I first heard of this feature and I have decided to make the eBird Trip Reports instead of my list of OBSERVED birds.
And of course, this also means that I will HAVE TO go back and do the same for my old birding adventures, WHEN I HAVE THE TIME!

Exotic species
Exotic species flags differentiate locally introduced species from native species.
Naturalized: Exotic population is self-sustaining, breeding in the wild, persisting for many years, and not maintained through ongoing releases (including vagrants from Naturalized populations). These count in official eBird totals and, where applicable, have been accepted by regional bird records committee(s).
Provisional: Either: 1) member of exotic population that is breeding in the wild, self-propagating, and has persisted for multiple years, but not yet Naturalized; 2) rarity of uncertain provenance, with natural vagrancy or captive provenance both considered plausible.
When applicable, eBird generally defers to bird records committees for records formally considered to be of "uncertain provenance". Provisional species count in official eBird totals.
Escapee: Exotic species known or suspected to be escaped or released, including those that have
bred but don't yet fulfill the criteria for Provisional. Escapee exotics do not count in official eBird totals.
