Thursday 11th of March 2021 and we leave Paphos at 6 thirty and we are soon on the highway driving towards Cape Greco in the east. We expect it to take about 2 hours to drive there.
I start my eBird app at 08:21 and we are soon spotting Chukars and I managed to get a picture, good enough to use. I have seen millions of the Chukar but they are impossible to get any pictures. We are soon passing two other birds that I have never seen before. The Cyprus Wheatear but they are too far away for any pictures.

I managed to get one half good picture of the Rüppell's Warbler before the bird took off. My Guide got all excited when we discovered a Subalpine Warbler in the same bush. The Subalpine Warbler and we got a few pictures before the bird took off. We saw where it landed and we followed the bird.
We got out of the car and we walked around searching for the bird. We found the bird and we got a few bonus pictures before the bird disappeared.

We drove back to see if we could see the Cyprus Wheatear but there was no sign of the bird. We continued to the other side of Cape Greco and my eBird app stopped. So I had to restart the app and thus the two checklists and two tracks below.
We were soon spotting one Spectacled Warbler and I went out to try to make a recording of the bird. It was very strong wind so there is a lot of noise in the recording.

We walked around the area and we spotted different warblers, but no pictures. We had our picnic lunch on a bench overlooking the rocks and the ocean. And we had a lot of different warblers and wheatears that we looked at while enjoying the picnic.
We decided to leave, but first we went to look for the Cyprus Wheatear again. We spotted the Wheatear but a little bit too far away. But I was happy that we spotted a Cyprus Warbler.

We left for the Sea Caves, Agia Napa a few minutes from Cape Greco. There was no birds in the Sea Caves area, just a Common Kestrel and we spotted one Hen Harrier over the fields. So not much to see here and we left the area.

Paralimni Lake is surrounded by city so we have to stop at some spots and dead end roads to see the lake. And as we have had high water levels in all the lakes and ponds on Cyprus it was not possible to get down to the lake side.
But there was really not many places to reach the lake side. So we gave up after almost one hour and we drove back to Paphos.

We will visit Troodos Mountains tomorrow to see if we can find the Cross Bill and the Short-toed Treecreeper. My Guide will be here to pick me up at 6 thirty. This is something I really look forward to.
Last time here we had a beautiful Crossbill and I was just about to take pictures when a British helicopter came and scared the bird.
Click HERE to find out if we have any luck with the Crossbill tomorrow.
