Thursday 18th of February 2021 and I woke up at 3 thirty, 30 minutes before my alarm was set to go off. I had a quick cuppa before I brought my luggage to the car and I left Fallängetorp för folk och fä a few minutes after 5 o'clock in th morning.
I drive the same way as I drove when we went to look for the Siberian Jay a couple of days ago. I reached Gävle when I turned up on road E4 driving north towards Piteå
Daylight around 7 thirty in the morning
I drive up E4 when I spot a gas stop and I fill up the car and I buy 2 sandwiches. One for breakfast and the other for lunch at 12. Well, my lunch sandwich went down at 10 o'clock.

I stopped in Umeå to fill up gas in the car and I bought some sandwiches to have for lunch. I stopped at a rest area and I had my sandwiches and the chocko milk I bought before continuing north on road E4.
It is beautiful with all the snow and it is kind of a beautiful winter landscape. But not near as beautiful as it was last time when I drove south here, that was during the summer and it was really beautiful. Anyway, I was enjoying the ride.
Over cast and gloom and grey for long as I could see. Not good and I am worried about my days in Abisko, needs to be clear sky or we will not see the Aurora Borealis.

I checked in to my hotel around 5 o'clock and I will leave for Kiruna / Abisko around 5 o'clock tomorrow morning. And I will stop in Kiruna to look for the Siberian Tit before continuing towards Abisko at the border to Norway.
+++++++++++++++
Friday 19th of February 2021 and my alarm went of at 4 o'clock. I allowed myself the luxury to snooze until 05:15. I left the hotel one hour later and I turned north when I reached road #E4. I drove through huge forest, no wild forest, it is all farmed threes.
There had been snow during the night and we had strong winds so the road was covered in a snow cloud and I had to drive slow.
The trip is 40km but I am in no hyrry. And I will also top at the Swedish Institute of Space Physics in Kiruna to look for the Siberian Tit
I will also stop at Kiruna Guidetur to discuss my tour to look for Aurora Borealis tomorrow night.

I drive through Luleå and I crossed several river, of course, they are all covered with ice. Except for the weather, it was a nice trip north and I left road #E4 when I reached the exit to #E10 going towards west and Norway.
E10 pass both Kiruna and Abisko so that is my road. Leaving #4and I stopped to fill gas in the car. I all so bought a few sandwiches for breakfast and lunch.

I spotted 2 Siberian Tits and I left to visit Kuruna Guidetur and we discussed upcoming tours. I was really disappointed, the sky was covered in clouds and it was snowing. And to see any Aurora Borealis we need a clear sky. So we will monitor the weather before I book more tours.
I was soon on my way to STF Abisko Turiststation where I will live until the 23 February. I was really not happy with the weather, I have been driving 2000km just to discover gloom and grey. Well, I got to see the Siberian Tit, and I was happy about this sighting, a new bird for me.

Driving towards Abisko and the sky started to open up and we had blue patches of clear sky and I got in to a good mood, maybe it will be possible to see the Aurora tonight.
I arrived to STF Abisko Turiststation around 2 thirty in the afternoon and I checked in to my room. I bought a Balaclava and I picked up my rented winter shoes in the shop. Now I will concentrate on the Aurora Borealis. But I will have to wait until it is dark.
