Flying to Copenhagen with Brussels Airlines flight SN 0204

Wednesday 6th of August 2025 and I am out of bed early. I have some recordings and bird pictures to work with. I went to have my last breakfast at Ocean Bay Hotel & Resort. I stopped at the reception to see if they had any updates about my Guide.

I hope he get the message that pick-up time have been changed. I also leave on shirt for laundry so it can be ready before checking out at 3 o'clock.

I spend the rest of the day in my room, drinking tea and packing my bags. They will come to help me with my luggage at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. It is knocking on my door at 3 o'clock and we get out to walk through the garden to the reception.

Knock knock and I open the door. BOOM!!! And it starts to pour down! Seriously, we are stepping out from my room and it start to pour down in exact the same second.

We waited for a few minutes and I gave up and I threw myself out in the rain. We were soaking wet when we stepped in to the reception and I could see that my Guide was waiting for me.

We pack my luggage in to the car and we take off towards Banjul International Airport, also known as Yundum International. I had been very lucky with the weather during my African adventure. But now the rainy season is arriving and I go home.

Light traffic and we made it to the airport in about 30 minutes. My Guide helped me with my luggage to the terminal building, a bit to walk from the parking. We said bye bye and I went to check in.

I had to pay 20 US$ when I entered Gambia so I got upset when they requested 20 US$ for the departure as well. Shit country!

Managing to check-in after a little trouble with my luggage. Immigration and security was quite quick and I was in the departure hall. There was a lounge on the second floor.

They did not let me use the lounge, I handed them my business class boarding pass. But this was not good enough, they asked for a blue voucher. They were going to call the check-in to see if I had the right to use the lounge.

Telling them “never ducking mind” and I left. They told me to wait for the confirmation from the check-in. But I left the lounge and I returned to the departure hall.

I bought two cans of juice at the restaurant in the departure hall and I found myself a seat where I could kill two hours. There was a TAX-FREE shop and the restaurant. The restaurant was more like a bar with light snacks.

Time turned kind of quick and I could soon see the Brussels Airlines plane landing. I want to the restaurant to look out the window when our plane was taxi to the tarmac.

The plane stopped a bit away from the terminal. So, we will have to go by bus to the airplane.

I kill time paying some stupid games on my phone and I noticed that they started to board passengers in wheel chairs. Then it was passengers with small children.

I boarded and I discovered that they had given me two boarding passes for the Brussels to Copenhagen leg so they went to make a new boarding pass for me. I had to wait for about 10 Business Class minutes at the gate before she returned with my boarding pass.

Coming out and I was about to board the bus when someone asked me:
- Business Class?
- Yes

I was showed to another much smaller bus. Only one lady and her child. So, it was a comfy ride to the airplane waiting on the tarmac.

Approaching the airplane and there was a lot of people on the tarmac, so they had obviously not started to take onboard the passengers.

We had a moment of waiting before they started to let us onboard. I found my seat and it was nice to finally be in my seat. I had got an aisle seat and the seat next to me was occupied, a bit of a disappoint.

We took off, and it is about 20 minutes before we will land in Dakar to take onboard more passengers. I was hoping for some empty seats when we are leaving Dakar. But the business class section was filling up.

There were two empty seats next to each other in the middle and i asked the Stewardess if I could move, I was informed that the seat was not working.
- What about the other seat.
- That is working
- Perfect, then I move there.

Now I had the seat next to me empty and I was happy. They asked what I wanted to eat and I said nothing, but I asked for an extra pillow.

Brussels Airlines, must be the most uncomfortable seats in the aviation business.

Very uncomfortable seats

There are many different seats on the flights depending on what company the airlines have to design the seats. ANA have so far had have the best seats. I have been in cabins with fishbone seating, turned both ways and I cannot say that I like it.

Brussels Airlines had the seats tilted a little, just a little from looking straight forward. Flatbed seats, but the flatbed are the worst ever. The foot rest are so narrow you can just put one for on them while sleeping.

Lucky the seat next to me was empty so I could is that foot rest for my left foot. It was very uncomfortable and next to impossible to sleep.

I have not been at Brussels International for at least 25 years. And back then I named the airport as the worst airport I have been to. And they have not improved the airport since the last time I was here.

Walking for miles, and my European Union flight will leave from Gates A, estimated walking time 30 ++ minutes and I was not happy. Trotting on and on and I manage to get myself to the immigration and security.

Keep on trotting to reach the lounge where I had tea and some rolls with butter. I grew tired of the lounge and I went to look for the gate. Still no gate number and I sat down and I dozed off in the chair. I had not had any sleep since I woke up at Ocean Bay Hotel & Resort early yesterday morning

Waking up in the chair “WHERE AM I? WHAT TIME IS IT? OHH, WHAT GATE DO I HAVE TO GO TO?” I went to the screen and now they know the departure gate. I take my wheeled carry on and I trot on towards the gate.

Reaching the lounge and I ask if they have an aisle seat for me. They find one aisle seat and I line up to board Brussels Airlines flight SN 2257. The girl tells me that I am in group 5 and the last to board. I told her that I am a Thai Airways Gold Member.
- No, you are not!

I have had problem with Brussels Airlines since I checked-in in Banjul, Gambia. I was not allowed to have my luggage, the carry-on was a problem. I told them that I was allowed an extra 30 kg of luggage as a gold member.

You are not a gold member and I have been swearing at Brussels Airlines ever since having checked-in back in Banjul International.

Embarrassing, I had made a mistake entering my frequent flyer number. I had swop two figures and I found out when I spoke with the girl at the check-in at the gate in Brussels.

I was last to board and I approached her, and she was the one discovered that I had given the wrong frequent flyer number. Now you're a gold member, she said after having updated my number. I said thank you and I went on the jet bridge to board the flight.

Boarding my flight to Copenhagen

Arriving to Copenhagen and I take the train to Malmö, Sweden to pick up my rented car. First stop is to buy some refreshments at a petrol station. I grabbed a pack of snus, the only one I will buy. Would be stupid to start with the snus again after stopping 4 months ago.

I drove north to my rented cottage and I left my luggage there before going to pick up my youngest nephew. We went to buy meat at the supermarket and quickly back to fire up the BBQ.

I will drive to Trelleborg tomorrow morning to make a passport, and if it takes two weeks to get my passport I will fly to Holland on Monday. I have planned to go look for birds in Belgium, Holland and Luxemburg while waiting for the passport.

We just need to click HERE to find out how things turn out.
