Aladdin's adventure during Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWN

Saturday 13th of April 2012 and I turned off the alarm clock before going to bed yesterday. Took me 3 to 4 hours to fall asleep and I woke up at 10 thirty. I had been hoping for a good sleep until Songkran12 at least. Well, talk about Murphy's law, when my alarm is on I can sleep to 12 and when I turn of the alarm I wake up early.

My friend gave me a “HOT” tip yesterday. He is eating a Paracetamol to alleviate the effect of the RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) So I checked out the tip on the internet first thing this morning and according to internet Aspirin works as well.

No need to use deodorant today as I'm expecting to be soaked within a few minutes after arrival to Silom Road. Last year I made it all the way to Soi 4 before I got soaked. Now I hope they sell beer, San Miguel Light would be the best. But I expect nothing but Leo and Singha beer.

Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.st Maybe I should have 20 bottles of San Miguel Lights before reaching Silom and then I can pretty much drink everything. Leo and Singha beer is not exactly any beer that taste good from a can while fighting the water war.

Here is a little something to enjoy while we're out fighting Aladdin's adventure at Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNthe national water fight at Silom road.

The water fight will be going on for a few days and it will get wet. No chance I will go outside sober and as I heard that they won't sell beer on Silom I might soon be back home again.
Aladdin's adventure at Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWN

I was wet even before leaving my apartment, one of my guns were leaking. As soon as I had left Aladdin's adventure during Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNthe gate behind I saw the crowd outside my local 7 Eleven and I heard them.
- ALADDIN!
They pointed at me and they filled their buckets with water. When I came closer I saw that it was the of duty staff from 7 Eleven. They were drinking beer and I was wet before reaching 7 Eleven.

They asked if I wanted beer but I said no thanks. I was waiting for a taxi and it took quite a while before there was a taxi passing. I stopped him and I went in to buy at San Miguel Light at 7 Eleven before we took off towards Silom Road. It didn't take long because the roads were almost empty. And I only saw one pick-up truck Aladdin's adventure during Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNwith people throwing water from the back. Against the law this year, the other years the roads had been full of pick-up trucks.

Well, anyway, even though it was a very quick trip my San Miguel Light was empty before we left Sukhumvit Road behind. And I read in Bangkok Post that there would not be any beer or alcohol at Silom.

This year 86 locations in 66 provinces across the country celebrating the Thai traditional new year have been designated alcohol-free zones, under a joint campaign by the Culture Ministry, the Thailand Health Promotion Foundation and the StopDrink Network.

The zones which all alcoholic drinks are banned include Khao Niew Road in Khon Kaen and Rob Khu Muang Road in Chiang Mai. The CentralWorld shopping centre is the only area in Bangkok to officially join in the campaign, although organisers on Silom and Khao San roads have promised to ban sales of alcoholic drinks during the festival, which runs until Monday.

I got out of the taxi and after 10 meters I ran in to the first vendor selling beer, he only had Leo Aladdin's adventure during Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNso I just walked past him. After 2 minutes I passed a girl selling Heineken bit no San Miguel Light so I bought a can of Heineken.

No alcohol, well, as I thought, this is nothing they going to manage. And no vendors, when I turned up on Silom there were so many vendors so it was hard to walk up the road.

And the sold beer everywhere, only Leo so I bought 2 cans that I was drinking while walking towards Silom Soi 4 for more beer.

Bangkok Post
The three, er ... the five days ... the week-long Songkran holiday is religious, right? Didn't you just say, "Oh lord, thank you for a break from the workaday hot season!"?
Bangkok Post
If it's a religion, it follows that it needs rules, also known as commandments. As formulated by our betters, and for the good of all, here are this year's Ten Commandments of Songkran.

1) You shall not drink and drive. If you need an explanation of this one, you deserve the time that police promise that this year - really - you'll be locked up. We really mean it, no kidding, just wait and see if we don't enforce this.

2) You shall not drink and douse. Authorities have banned having a drink and then throwing water. They have also banned the sale of alcohol in areas designated for water throwing. Yes, really, there are now designated water-throwing areas. Wish the Songkran Police good luck with this one.

Most people, including most visitors, still think water-throwing areas are "anywhere inside the Thai border except for mom's kitchen".

3) Thou shalt not put ice in the throwing water. This is another new rule, and the highly regimented society of Thailand is certain to adopt and follow it scrupulously.

4) You shall not use high-pressure water guns. Because Thailand is like America in all ways and authorities have decided to have a gun debate, just like in the US.

The anti-gun side has decided "no high-capacity tanks on the guns" and no assault weapons. And exactly like in America, the definition of "high pressure water gun" is in the eye of the beholder.

The real meaning of this rule is if you douse a member of the elite Songkran Police force and he doesn't smile, your gun is illegal. Please note, however, that in view of the fact Songkran takes place in the hot season, your constitutional right will be protected to bare arms.

5) Thou shalt not do dirty dancing. The constitutional right to bare arms stops precisely at the acromion. Girls, keep your tops on. And anyway, what do you young people think this is, some kind of national party or something, where you can just bring massive disrespect to the nation with your new-fangled topless dancing hip-hop nonsense? And get off the lawn before we call the Culture Ministry!

6) Also, get off the pavements, you Bangkok vendor people. The law against selling anything - food, clothes, DVDs, water guns - will be rigidly enforced this weekend on the disciplined streets of Bangkok and its Songkran Enjoyment Zones. Anyone selling from the pavements during Songkran in Bangkok may be asked to donate to the Thetsakij Welfare Fund.
Bangkok Post
7) You shall not paint reluctant faces white. Translation: No flour ambushing. If you want to look like someone who is enjoying Songkran and put white stuff on your own face, go ahead. If you do it to others who are reluctant, the Flour Police will punish you by ... hmmm, how do you further punish someone covered in self-humiliating white flour? But anyway, just don't do it.

8) You shall remove all water tanks and pumps from the bed of the pickup before you go downtown to watch the water fights. "I forgot" will probably work as an excuse, though.

9) You shall remember that Songkran is a traditional and essential part of Thai culture, when tiny amounts of lustral water are poured on the hands of older family members as a sign of respect by the young generation, who seriously acknowledge the superior experience and knowledge of their elders. Ha ha ha, don't those old fogeys just wish this were true?

Didn't that old guy look surprised when I hit him with four shots to the kisser from the high-capacity back-tank of ice water in my new water gun?

10) Thou shalt not grope. Well, even unbridled, multi-day fun needs some code of conduct. Hands off the merchandise, guys! We're not kidding.

I had a few beers at Silom Soi 4 before I walked to Patpong and at Patpong they had San Miguel Aladdin's adventure at Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNLight in the bars.

And as I had more than a few San Miguel light they Aladdin's adventure at Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNwere running in to trouble keeping them cold at one of the bars.

But no problem, when they Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.stwere running out of cold San Miguel Light I asked for ice and a wine glass.

And as there was a guy ringing the bell I was soon having more San Miguel Light that I wished for in front of me.

I don't know what time I was back home, but I guess it was pretty early, one of the Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.stperks by starting early is that you're back home in bed early. Well, most of the times.

I remember sitting in a bar, back towards Patpong and the water war facing the bar. Sun was shining and when I paid my bill and turned around it was dark.

I was tipsy and I don't think I had many more beers before I went back home.

and as I said when I woke up. NEVER AGAIN! I will stay home today and I really wished they had managed to enforce the alcohol ban yesterday

Well, as I told my friend, the world look a whole lot different after 2 bottles of Baileys in a hangover shake. And I was soon leaving to meet my friends at Black Swan, and yes, in the middle Aladdin's adventure at Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNof my Sunday routines, washing my bed sheets so I guess I have to sleep in the guest room tonight.

My new party/ Songkran e-cigarettes passed the test with flying colours yesterday. Well, I lost one and the mouth piece was missing in the other one. But I found the mouth piece on the floor so the e-cigarette works again.

I managed to get to my local 7 Eleven dry, but as the staff were sitting outside with buckets of water and a water hose I was soon soaked. The sun was shining and it was hot and it was quite nice to get water thrown at me. So no need to worry about getting wet walking to Black Swan, and they were throwing water all the way to Black Swan.

Passing Soi Cowboy on my way to Black Swan

And I was dripping when I arrived to Black Swan and the staff changed my chair and they Aladdin's adventure at Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNrolled out a black plastic bag under the stool. Strange, on my first chair there was a cushion made out of fabric. Would have been dry again after an hour or two. But they changed my chair and gave me a stool with leather top, and leather will take like forever to dry.

I must have had 12 San Miguel Light before we decided to go to Soi 33 to eat Japanese food. The Japanese restaurant is one stop away with the sky train and we will hopefully be able to dodge the water fight on the sky train.

I can't remember any water on the sky train, the only water came from my water blaster. Same at Black Swan, a dry place but I was able to Aladdin's adventure at Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNhand out a few “Happy New Year” squirts. The Waitress filled my gun 2 times before she refused to refill the gun.

And when she came back asking for the gun so she could refill the gun I suspected that she was up to no good and I refused to give her the water gun.

If I would have handed her the water blaster she would most likely have kept it.

Well, anyway, we were soon at the Japanese Aladdin's adventure at Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNrestaurant and I asked for “sake hotto” first thing coming in to Aladdin's adventure at Songkran in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNthe restaurant. And when I sat down at the table the “sake hotto” was ready.

And it didn't take long before I asked for the Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.stsecond jar of “sake hotto”.

And as my friend told me the day after, I almost finished one of those JUMBO bottles with sake all by lonesome. I can't remember eating anything. Well, some cheese and bacon on stick and I might have had some salmon maki.

But I remember my friends coming back in to get me when it was time to left. They have a table Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.stand you sit on the floor with a 40 cm deep hole under the table for the legs, darn impossible to get out of there. Especially after 2 litres of “sake hotto” and a few beers.

Monday 15th of April 2013
and I said it last weekend in Singapore, NEVER AGAIN. Just going through Songkran and then never again. I have had my last hangover!

+++++++++++++++
Tuesday 16th of April 2013
and I was still suffering from a hangover when I woke up. But this is the last day with a hangover with my last hangover ever. Yes, I have really made up my mind. No more alcohol for long as I live.

I took a taxi to MBK Center and I walked back home via Siam Discovery, Siam Center and Siam Paragon. From Siam Paragon to Pantip via World Trade Center and then back home. A few hours of Aladdin's adventure in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNkick ass Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.st constitutional. With only a Dairy Queen at MBK Center in Bangkokmango ice cream (JUMBO SIZE) at Dairy Queen at MBK Center. I walked around MBK Center while enjoying my ice cream and as soon as I finished my ice cream I left MBK Center.

And darn, I stopped at V8 Diner at Sukhumvit Soi 12 for bacon & egg on my way to MBK Center. Darn, I had forgot the V8 and a good day turned in to a bad day, at least regarding my diet.

And I had planned to stop at Marriott on my way home but I managed to pass Marriott without any stop for their excellent buffet.

My friend had called and they were back at the Japanese restaurant and I could hear that they had been drinking sake.
- We're at the Japanese, come over!
- I just came back home
- The Waitress are asking if you can walk today.
- Yeah-yeah, blah-blah
I had a shower and I took a taxi to the Japanese restaurant and I joined them with 2 bottles of Aladdin's adventure in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNsoda water. I still suffer from my hangover and I have really decided that alcohol is nothing I will enjoy again in my life. So soda water it was.

And honestly, soda water taste better than beer and there are no surprise hangover the day after.

I had enough to eat today so I never had anything to eat. When my friends were ready with their food, well, drinks we walked to another place on Sukhumvit Soi 33. I enjoyed 2 more soda waters and my electronic cigarette before I took a taxi back home.

Wednesday 17th of April 2013
and the darn Songkran holiday is finally over and I will be back to my normal boxing routines losing weight again after 4 days of holiday. But first of all I went to Aladdin's adventure at New Cowboy Bar & Restaurant in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNSukhumvit Soi 22 to meet my friend at New Cowboy Bar & Restaurant. He was going to eat egg & bacon with his girlfriend. But as I have started my new life I just had a soda water.

Aladdin's adventure at New Cowboy Bar & Restaurant in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWN
I had brought season 8 of the weeds but as I had seen this season I was taking back the DVDs to the shop. I asked them how old the DVD was and he told me a month. But I had bought this season at least 6 months ago. He told me I could come back and change the DVDs if I had seen this season already. Well, my friend had only seen season 7 so I gave him the DVDs. I took a taxi to Pantip Plaza and I walked from there to World Trade Center where I bought laundry bags or net.

Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.stThey have told me that it was OK to wash silk in the washing machine if I used the laundry bag. Then I passed a place with fabrics and I spent 19,600 Baht on fabrics for 6 shirts that I dropped at my Tailor on the way home. And I can't wait until I can try to wash them in my washing machine.

Otherwise I will have to send them to dry cleaning. And then I lose the convenience of having my own washing machine. Same as living at a hotel, laundry service and even though I ask them not to button up my shirts I always end up having to unbutton my shirts.

Kicking the pads at Bangkok Fight Club

I had a TUNA & ONION SURPRISE ® and a pot of tea when I was back home before leaving for my session at Bangkok Fight Club. And it is really time for boxing now. I have not had a TUNA & Aladdin's adventure at Bangkok Fight Club in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNONION SURPRISE ® for several day and I have not been at the gym for several days so it is about time to get my arse moving again.

It has only been drinking and eating during Songkran and this had not done any good for the progress towards a v-shaped torso.

I walked to Bangkok Fight Club and there were plenty people but they boxers that had been training before us finished their session and we were only 4 people remaining, and our Thai friend was back, good.

I have not seen him in a very long time and it was fun to meet him again. 20 minutes past 7 we had another of out Thai friends arriving and a few minutes later the American girl arrived to have a look at our session.

Sweden and the rest of EU is turning to shit

Our 2nd Thai friend arriving missed the Thai Navy exercises, we did 50 of those. And as I have Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.stAladdin's adventure at Bangkok Fight Club in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNthe pain in my right foot I did some half ass Thai Navy exercises.

We had started to run up and down and kicking the pads when our 2nd Thai friend arrived and he was soon joining us. The American girl was watching us while we were running around.

We did punching until I Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.stwas almost dead and when it was 10 minutes past 8 we started to kick the bags. Yeah, my right foot doesn't allow me to go full in on the
Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.stkicking. It was 8 thirty when we completed the bags and I expected us to go home. But now it was time for 10 minutes of sit ups and throwing the medicine ball.

But now it was time for some bicycle exercise and then we could go home. It had been a very nice session, much thanks to the American girl and our Thai friend, it was a feeling of “back in the days”

I walked back home and I had a glass of electrolyte and a protein shake, and of course a glass of flaxseeds Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.stbefore I went for a shower. And I was in a good mood, my trousers are getting bigger by the day.

and as my Teacher has his birthday today Bangkok Fight Club is closed, so how to dodge the restaurants today? I got the American girl's picture from Singapore via e-mail this morning. Friday 19th of April 2013
and to miss Bangkok Fight Club tonight is no option. My Teacher and is oldest daughter had their birthday yesterday and no boxing. And yes, I ended up at El Gaucho, El Gaucho in Bangkokthe Argentinian restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 19. I watched a movie at Terminal 21 with my friend. And as El Gaucho is just next to Terminal 21 I decided to go to try their steak.

They have American, Australian and something called Choice. Choice was the cheapest one, 990 Baht for 250gr. They have started with this selection with the lamb chops as well and last time I had lamb chops I took the more expensive choice. No difference. So I choose Choice and Australian today, 250 gr of each and 2 creamed spinach
- Only 2? They asked used to me always asking for 3
- Yes, that is enough

The Australian steak was 1400 Baht or something like that for 250 gr and when they delivered the food I put everything on one plate. I tried the steak and first time I thought there was a difference but then they tasted the same.

Later on in the evening I stopped at Villa Market to buy onions and chilli. I also ended up with 3 kg of Aladdin's adventure in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNsmoked salmon and 8 cinnamon rolls. So Bangkok Fight Club or BUST tonight!

But first I went to Almenta to check on the progress with my sofa and armchairs, or as they call armchairs in Thailand “sofa single”. No news and I doubt that they will be ready next week. I had a constitutional down to Ruam Rudi before I walked back home for my TUNA & ONION SURPRISE ® and a pot of tea before taking off to Bangkok Fight Club.

I stopped to buy 2 more electronic cigarettes so now I have enough to give me 2 fully charged e-cigarettes at all times. And I will hopefully soon have given up both snus and e-cigarettes.

I also had time to “almost” complete my Thai books before it was time to leave for Bangkok Fight Club. Our Teacher's motorcycle wasn't there when I arrived. Our Australian friend arrived and we went up on the 2nd floor. The owner and his wife was there when we arrived.
- You have red socks today! His wife said.
- Yes
- You have so many different colours on your socks!
- How do you know?
- You have told me!
- Well....

She also told us that there was a new guy coming today and he was from Germany. And as the Aladdin's adventure at Bangkok Fight Club in Bangkok/ FUNKY TOWNclock was 18:58:13 I told her that he had 1 minute and 48 seconds before the session started.

The guy from Germany arrived 30 seconds later and our Teacher arrived after a few minutes and we started by Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.strunning around carrying weights. We were running up and down the gym, forwards and backwards.

Then we had to lift weights, bench-press to start with. Yet another smiley on www.aladdin.stWho can make most lifts in 30 seconds? And then we did 2 different exercises with a barbell, same here, how many in 30 seconds. Then we started to kick and kneeing the bags and we finished the session with the mitts. And of course, sit ups before going home. I did 20 bonus squats after the mitts, I try to do 20 at every session. But my right foot and knee prevent me from getting the right swung in the squats.

It was nice to come back home for a glass of electrolyte and a protein shake. And of course a glas of flaxseeds. I bought a box with 50 bags of electrolyte when I was walking back home from Ruam Rudi in the afternoon. I also have to finish my Thai books before going to sleep.

Sweden and the rest of EU is turning to shit

Saturday tomorrow and the Malaysian guy are in Bangkok and we will go to meet my Teacher at the Thai Navy Shooting range in Bang Na for some shooting. And as my Teacher works in the Thai Navy we get a very nice price for the shooting.
