Monday 12th of February 2018 and it was cold. Strong winds and I was soon giving up looking at Roy Maersk disappearing behind us and I went inside to sit down. We were kind of disappointed, we were told that it would take one and a half hour to reach the port of Vailikos. And 90 minutes turned out to be 2 hours and it was 5 o'clock before we could step ashore on the jetty in Vailikos.
Our Motorman had been on deck puking during the whole trip. It was choppy and the small boat was rolling like there was no tomorrow. So it was nice when we came inside the breakwaters in Vailikos.
I recognised Vailikos, this must have been the place we were loading Sulphuric acid with m/t Vestria back in 1984. Of course, it is 35 years ago so the port had changed. Big tank farms and new breakwaters and jetties.
Our driver is waiting for us
We loaded our luggage in the car and we were soon on our way to the immigration in Larnaca. This was something new for me. I had told Captain that I would book my hotel in Limassol but the Agent didn't know about this. And we had not been informed about the compulsory visit to the immigration in Larnaca, then I would have booked my hotel in Larnaca.
Well, we were soon on our way and it is not a very long ride from Vailikos to Larnaca and it was a nice highway and not much traffic so we were hauling ass.

Immigration in Larnaca
Took us about 30 minutes to get to the international airport in Larnaca and the immigration/ police office was down on the beach. It took us about 3 minutes to clear the immigration and we took off towards down town Larnaca to drop off the Engineer and Motorman at their hotel. So back to Limassol and Ajax Hotel, but it would be nice to sip on a Pepsi MAX while plunging down the highway towards Limassol.
There was a Minimart next to the hotel, but they only had Coke. We left the hotel behind and we were soon passing a Supermarket and we stopped to have a look. They had Pepsi MAX and I filled up a shopping basket. We were soon on the way to Limassol and I enjoyed a MAX in the front seat while watching Larnaca passing by outside the window..

I was hungry and the driver told me about a restaurant opposite of the hotel. He told me it was a good restaurant and I decided to go to check it out when I had checked in. My driver dropped me at the hotel and he will come to pick me up at 3 o'clock on Friday afternoon.
I checked in and I went to check out the restaurant and I found out that it was called Charcoal House. I asked for tea, no pot so I had to drink from a small mug. THEY DIDN'T GAD ANY ROSEMARY!!! Lamb chops and no rosemary, well, I decided to have the lamb chops anyway, starting with a very good salad and some excellent bread.
The lamb chops was good, but served with French fries, a disappointment. 24 € so it was OK, I don't think I will come back, but only because I want to try other places. It was OK and the staff was friendly so if you pass Charcoal House, give it a try.

Day 2: Larnaca
Day 3: Paphos
