  Sunday 12th of April 2015 and I woke up at 8 o'clock, I managed to fall asleep again and I woke up 10 o'clock. I ripped open a Pepsi MAX before I had my shower. And that's even though I shouldn't. I had about 12 cans yesterday and I found it very hard to fall asleep this morning. I discovered that my friend had sent me a link to an interesting article about SABAI VISA. http://www.stickmanbangkok.com/StickmanWeeklyColumn2015/George-Thai-Visa.htm And as I had  paid 15,000 Baht for the Adobe Acrobat I have make the page available as a PDF file HERE as well.
It was interesting and I remember SABAI VISA and the owner from back in the 90's. I went for lunch and as we had got provision yesterday I had two plates of salad. But they didn't delivered the oatmeal. It is delivered according to the delivery notes, but we can't find the darn oatmeal.  Maybe they show up, but I took 3 bags of something that looked to be  healthy. Nesfit, yeah, just the name makes you feel fit.
I have a cup of oatmeal on the bridge in the morning (with water) and I can skip the breakfast but now I'm running low on oatmeal. I brought 3 cans of Pepsi MAX and 3 bags of the Nesfit to the bridge when I went to take over the watch on the bridge at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Well, the Nesfit tasted good, and that’s even though I mixed them with water. But it didn't taste very healthy and I really hope that our Cook can find the oatmeal in his stores. If we got them delivered and not only paid for them that is. +++++++++++++++
Monday 13th of April 2015 and we were still anchored when I came on the bridge 4 o'clock in the morning. Our crew came on the bridge at 6 o'clock and we held a Tool Box Meeting for about one hour and twenty minutes. New crew and I went through all the risk assessments we have for cargo and mooring operations with them.
We also went through some of the other risk assessments for lifting and heavy weather etc. We studied a few “Learn from incidents” and the crew could go for breakfast and now they should know all about the safe procedure regarding the jobs discussed.  Early morning Tool Box Meeting on the bridge
I was in bed at 8 thirty and I was back in my office at 10. The crew came after the coffee break and we went on deck to start the work I had in mind. We had a few remarks from the MIRE Inspection and we got right on to them. New bolts on some of the manifolds, new screen in the  paint shop ventilation.
And I had 3 of the ABs to start chipping the fittings on the mooring winches while my TOP GUN was making a stencil for one of the mushrooms. A busy morning and I was 30, well, almost 30 minutes late for my lunch. +++++++++++++++
Tuesday 14th of April 2015 and the strong wind, almost gale, from yesterday was gone when I came on the bridge at 4 in the morning. Otherwise the weather left a whole lot to wish for, gloom  and grey for as long as I could see. And on top of all the gloom and grey it started to rain in the morning.
But we were lucky, the rain stopped before it was time to have our drills after the coffee break at 10. We finished our drills 20 minutes before lunch and now we only have two drills remaining for this month. I had to do some paper work and I was yet again late for lunch. Well, it is more of a trick after the Flæskesteg debacle with our Chief Engineer some weeks ago. I thought I was last guy for lunch and I emptied the dishes. Well, anyway, we got loading orders, Gothenburg on the 20th of April and I started to look for camera shops on line. If I can buy the Canon equipment duty free in Gothenburg I can save almost 2000US. Well, I sent some e-mails and I hope they reply tomorrow. +++++++++++++++
Wednesday 15th of April 2015 and we're still anchored at Aabenraa Fjord. We tested our gas detectors in the pump room and ballast tanks and I was late for lunch yet again. A quick lunch and  I did the fourth cargo calculation for the cargo we're going to lift in Gothenburg.
Seems like I will have to buy my Canon equipment  when I'm back in Bangkok.
The Scandinavian Photo didn't seem too eager to sell the equipment. Only problems and 7 to 8000 US and I can spend the money elsewhere. Coming on the bridge in the afternoon and the  bridge was busy with people. They are working on new cables for our ECDIS equipment. I put on the kettle  and I was soon enjoying a great cup of tea watching the weather turning from bad to worse.
Gloom and grey for as long as we have been able to see for the last few days and now it started to rain with strong winds. The rain and the strong westerly wind blew past us. But there was not much of an improvement on the weather. Yeah, well, it stopped to rain. The AB on my watch  brought bananas and I was actually enjoying my watch knowing that it would not be necessary  to go inspect the galley after the watch. A very bad habit I had picked up a few days ago. For sure not the way to go if I want to obtain my V-shaped torso. So fruit in the evening and I will go FAT TO FLAT in a jiff.

Thursday 16th of April 2015 and our new 2nd Officer wanted to have a look in the pump room after lunch so we made work permits, risk assessment and we held a Tool Box meeting. Pump room was clear @ 13:45 and as I was going to calibrate and test the gas detectors I had a great  opportunity to show 2nd Officer and Pump Man.
Well, a long story short, it was almost time for me to go for my afternoon watch when we finished the gas detectors. I had time for one and a half can (I forgot half a can on my desk in my cabin when I went for lunch) of Pepsi MAX though. And nothing exciting going on on the bridge, we were still anchored on Aabenraa Fjord. And as it looks now we will leave early Saturday morning to go take bunker at Skagen before proceeding to Go:teborg WHERE I WILL NOT GET MY NEW CANON EQUIPMENT +++++++++++++++
Friday 17th of April 2015 and we were still anchored when I came on my watch in the morning. Well, we will leave Aabenraa tomorrow and we will drop the anchor at arrival to Gothenburg as it  looks now. Well, can as well stay outside Sweden as here in Denmark, but next time we drop anchor we will get paid and that is good for Mærsk and thus it is good for me.
I was busy doing risk assessments and when the crew came up on the bridge at 6 we had a one hour toolbox meeting. They are going to paint the draft marks today and they will stay outside the ship side painting. So risk assessments and toolbox meeting are required as we don't want to have any accidents. I only had time for one cup of tea and it was 8 o'clock and I went for a power nap. I woke up just in time for our bunker meeting in the duty mess. Second day in a row and  they forget to wake me up at 09:45. Well, how hard can it be?
We had yet another toolbox meeting in my office after the bunker meeting and the crew involved in the painting of the draft marks signed the work permit. And as they will stand on a painting platform it require some climbing to get down on the plat form. Fall arrestor and safety harness is a must. And after the success with my “safety harness” training in my office last time I decided to hold yet another session in my  office before they started with the  painting. Safety first and we cannot get too much practise with the safety equipment.
Seems like we have got our final loading orders and I prepared my paper work before lunch. Well, not the cargo plan as it seems like we will mix different grades on board so I need to know the sequence and quantities of the different parcels before I start any  planning or it might turn out to be nothing but a waste of time.
We had a gorgeous evening, cloudy but sunshine. I had a fe sailing yachts sailing  around us and there were plenty people fishing from small boats. So I was really enjoying the afternoon with tea while dreaming of the Polar Bears that I will  hopefully see when I'm on Svalbard in 2 months’ time for the Polar Bear Quest.
But there are clouds on the sky, and those clouds are at least to say very dark. I read in the   news yesterday that the Polar Bears have started to eat baby birds as the ice disappears. Polar Bears eat seals on the ice where they can catch them and their babies.
But a Polar Bear is having exactly ZERO chance of catching a seal in the water so baby birds are their options. Well, I'm not surprised, I knew that this would soon be gone and I'm lucky that I have booked my adventure. Not many more years before it is too late. I'm happy if I can catch a glimpse of one Polar Bear on the ice. To see a Polar Bear eating from a garbage can would be disappointing. OK, Svalbard and there are no people living there except for in the Longyearbyen so I don't expect to see any garbage cans.  So this might be the last chance. I have planned for a 3 weeks cruise in the Antarctica, but my next adventure after the Polar Bear Quest will be Amazonas. And I'm thinking about throwing it around as Antarctica is disappearing as well.  Aabenraa Fjord - The sun is setting over Aabenraa

Saturday 18th of April 2015 and my last morning anchored at Aabenraa Fjord? I prepared our Tool Box meeting while drinking my tea. The guys came on the bridge at 6 o'clock and we held our Tool Box meeting. They will continue with the draft marks and they will be ready before we heave up our anchor and leave here around 11 o'clock.

They were also preparing a fan for force ventilation of Void Space #6 as we have planned to go down there to test the bilge alarm after 10 o'clock. They had finished the draft marks at 10 o'clock and we were going down the Void Space just after 11 o'clock and they were busy heaving up our anchor. Next stop, Go:teborg anchorage. I was disappointed that I could not get my Canon equipment in Go:teborg. Well, maybe I'm better off buying it in Bangkok with the guarantee. I will go to Canon as soon as I'm back in Bangkok and I  will hopefully have some time to practice with my new equipment before it is time to leave for the Polar Bear adventure 20th of June.

Sunday 19th of April 2015 and we were northbound a few mils south of Sjællands N Rev L/H in the Great Belt when I came on my morning watch. It was a gorgeous morning even though it was a wee  bit cold. But there was no wind and the sun was shining so I was in a good mood enjoying my tea.
I finished my cargo plan before lunch so we're pretty much set for the loading, if there is no changes that is. We were northbound West of Sweden approaching Go:teborg anchorage  when I came on the bridge at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
We will drop the anchor and take bunker tonight. Good, we will complete the bunkering before the loading operation. Anchor down at 19:00 and we expect the bunker barge around 8. She is laying next to use delivering bunker to another ship and as soon as they are ready they will come to us with gas oil and fuel oil. Latest berthing prospects is 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon after M/T Sea voyager. But she is anchored not far away from us so we will see what’s happening. +++++++++++++++
Monday 20th of April 2015 and the sky started to get orange coloured in the East when I came on the bridge 4 o'clock in the morning. Not much wind and it looked to be a gorgeous day. When I  went to bed yesterday our berthing prospects was at 15:00 and now they have changed it by 3 hours until 18:00.
Our crew were finishing off the  last painting on the mooring winches they have been chipping for the last few days and I had a few of them to start the chipping on the fo'c's'le. Well, this is the good thing by staying at the anchorage, time to do some works. And of course, before lunch they had changed the berthing until 06:00 tomorrow morning.

Tuesday 21st of April 2015 and we're still anchored when I came on the bridge at 4 o'clock in the morning. Yet another gorgeous morning. We expect our ECDIS Technician and 2 new on signers to arrive at 10 o'clock with a service launch.
Before lunch and we received a message that they expect us to come alongside 10 o'clock tonight. And of course, it didn't take long before it was 02:30. Don't ask me what they are doing in Skarvikshamnen jetty #510. I'm also starting to wonder what’s going on. Well, anyway, coming alongside in Gothenburg will be a totally different adventure.
