Written onboard M/T Ek-River July 2010
I did not take any picture on this trip
Nils Dacke in Travemünde
M/S Nils Dacke was a trailer and railway ferry and she was built 1988 by Schichau Seebeckswerft AG, Bremerhaven in Germany. She was on 24 745 BR ton and 177,2 m long and 28m wide. She could take 284 passengers. There was 870 m railway onboard but she never carried any wagons only truck and trailers.
She should be delivered 16th of June 1988 but her engine didn't work and she had her trail trip 25th of October and was finally delivered to Swecarrier Rederi AB, Stockholm 28th of October 1988. 31st of October she was in traffic between Trelleborg - Travemünde.

In the summer 1993 Nils Dacke was rebuilt to a car and passenger ferry at Masa Yard, Åbo, Finland. She was renamed to Peter Pan and she was back in traffic between Trelleborg - Travemünde autumn 1993.
2001 she was renamed to Peter Pan IV and in the winter 2001/2002 she was rebuild again at SSW Fähr- und Spezialschiffbau GmbH, Bremerhaven, Germany.
Well finally in January 2002 they changed her name again to Huckleberry Finn and she got on traffic between Trelleborg - Rostock. Only God will know what will happen to her in the future.
Visit www.faktaomfartyg.crosswinds.net a very good site for interesting info about ship's and shipping company.

I signed off Nils Dacke 15th July 1989, I'm not sure about the date because I think they count onboard time for as long as I'm home on paid leave. Johnson Line had asked if I could join one of their ships in Port of Spain, Trinidad. But as I was on Nils Dacke this was impossible.
But they wanted me to join Nordic Stream in Gothenburg at the end of July. Good, I had time for some holiday. And this was a holiday that started very good. I followed one of the ABs to his home in Kristianstad. we had a few drinks and when he was sleeping in his armchair I took off to Helsingborg. I was accommodated at a 5 star hotel during the night. SHERIFF INN
And these m*********** woke me up at 4 o'clock in the morning. I walked down to the railway station and I had to wait a few hours for my train to Gothenburg. But I was soon back in Helsingborg. My brother and his friend lived in an apartment in Helsingborg so I went down to see them.
There was a car show in Båstad so we decided to go check it out. well, I was not interested in cars. But my friend was and I tried to talk them in to staying in Båstad to have a good time. Of course, they refused to have fun and we ended up in Torekov.
We stayed in Torekov for a few minutes before we returned to Helsingborg. I don't remember what we did in the evening. But I guess that I woke up in the apartment for my next picture look like an early morning picture. And then my next picture is from Sundsbussarna.
Sundsbussarna, the small ferries that trafficked Öresund between Helsingborg and Helsingør back in the days. So we took an early day tour to Helsingør across the Öresund.
As we can see on the pictures it was a sunny day, but there were still black clouds in the sky. It took us about 20 minutes to get across Öresund to Helsingør, about 2 or 3 beers.
And of course, when we had gone through the trouble to get to Helsingør we could as well stay for a Svagdricka.
And as you can see my weekend bag was with us already back then. We went up to town for a few beers and Sundsbussarna had a good location, a few minutes’ walk to the city centre.
We had a few beers before we returned to the ferry terminal.
On the way back we ran in to a big band of only beautiful girls. I don't know what they were playing, but I liked their uniforms, especially the hats. And if I had had a few more beers there is no doubt about that I would have tried to get one.
Sadly, but Sundsbussarna don't exist anymore. The company went belly up in the mid of the 2000. Well, I'm not sure. But when we passed Öresund in July 2010 we saw one of the old Sundsbussarna and now she was blue and she was trafficking between Denmark and Ven.
Well, I don't know, maybe they open the ferry line again and I really don't care. By now I'm too old for these kind of adventures.
Coming back to Helsingborg and I think we ran in to the AB I had signed off Nils Dacke with. But I'm not sure.
I don't remember, but after our adventure on the Sundsbussarna the next picture is from Höganäs, not I place I go by free will. But it seems like we picked up a few friends and I don't remember where we went after that.
But I can still remember today (2010) that we went to Höganäs to meet, or if they picked us up in Helsingborg for a party in the Höganäs area.
But one of them was a guy I went to school with in Göteborg and next picture is from when we go back to Gothenburg by train.
My car was scrapped a long time ago and my VESPA was sold so I had to go by train when I wanted to go to Skåne.
I had had it with party so it was nice to join Nordic Stream at the container terminal in Gothenburg 24th of July 1989. Will be very nice to leave this lifestyle behind.
